    First post, so hi all!

    In short, two questions:
    1. What are the best options for an '85 XJ900 exhaust (other than Marving chrome); and
    2. Would a later model Diversion ('94 on) fit the earlier models?

Looking for a stainless exhaust system (4 in to 1) for the '85, but I can only really see a chromed one from Marving and there aren't really any other options I can see. There are a lot more options for the Diversion, hence the question about the differences between the engines and whether I could fit a Diversion exhaust to the earlier 900 models.

    Thanks in advance!

First off welcome to the forum. I like exhaust systems so I'll be watching this thread, but I usually make my own so I'll be of little help to answer your question.
Just a bump to keep this going forward.
    Cheers, 50gary

Best option is to go with factory original equipment

Very unlikely. The Divvy has a slightly more canted cylinder bank than the older XJ's. Compare their photos.

There was recent mention from some poster in passing about an XJ750 he bought that had a GS750 system on it, which made me sit up and pay attention.
I've got no shortage of GS pipes lying around and next time I have to drop the XJ9 pipes, I'll try one of them for fit to see how close it is. Gut feeling is that it's not far off.

A nexus system for a Kawasaki ZX6 was fitted to an XJ900f l noticed on EBay. Facebook l heard have a XJ forum and someone on that stated a GSX system fitted the XJ's too.

    I'm hoping...
Currently my XJ downpipes are ok, but the collector/ crosspiece link is starting to rot out. Toss-up whether to bother fabbing one up if it's just a simple H-shaped pipery, or fit an easily available (and cheap) 4-into-1.

I have one Jama silencer left after a motorist hit me at a roundabout. Right silencer and headers were ruined. I am looking for a spare system too. There was an original XJ collector on e bay last week might still be there. £25 plus postage. Just checked it's sold.

Yeah, my system is Jama too. I think they were about the main supplier of aftermarket systems for the XJ9 in the UK. Pity they weren't stainless - they cost enough.

My Jama cross pipe area on the pipe under the engine was corroded. As you weld you could make a system up from components. Did you see this video of Mezzmo's build.

    Yeah, I see he didn't use a cross-connector.
That would make it so much easier to repair mine, but I've a feeling that Jama would've left it out too if it had no effect.

I think my Motad 4 into 1 is actually a four into 2 into 1 meaning there is a split to help with cylinder scavenging so the pipes are paired before the silencer unit. Yes it must have an effect if the cross pipe was not there in the Jama system. As you mentioned the Suzuki GS pipes is they fit and don't obstruct the oil filter etc that would be great.
