    Joseph,
Sounds like you are starting to see some positive improvements and signs of life with the bike, that is great. As far as those brakes feeling good, clean them out. Take that top off the Master Cylinder and look to see if that fluid is nasty brown. Brakes are a big safety issues and really need to be verified. With out weather cooling down so quick this yr, you might have a long winter to work on her.

    Today in fact.

It ran. Hot damn boys, she ran.

I left the petcock on prime accidentally, so that may be part of the issue, but gas started pooling under it, leaking out of #1 carb I think. Once it warmed up a little it would just rev up and up, until I shut it off.

    but she ran.

    It's ALIVE!!!!

Check the oil for gas, since a leaky petcock/float valve can leak gas into the crankcase. If you haven't changed the oil, now is a good time anyway.

Next step, find any vacuum leaks that cause the revving.

Check the date codes on the brake lines. More than 6 years old and rubber, replace them.
Why You NEED TO REPLACE Original brake lines w/pics

Assume that the master cylinder hasn't been rebuilt either, or the brake calipers.
ALL of those rubber parts are service items and NEED to be replaced somewhat regularly.
If you can't stop, you won't go very far.

As for the fuel problem: You have a carb (or more) that's in need of attention. Even on prime the fuel should never overflow out of them.
Carbs have rubber parts in them too, and they are at least as old as the brake lines.
