This fall I tore down the top end of my 550 Seca. 79,000 kms, or 49,000 miles on it. It just didn’t have the power it used to.
We measured up the cylinders with the hope that they would be in spec and I could just re-ring it.
    Great results!

    Wear limit is 2.248”
    Taper max is 0.002”

    Bottom 2.244
    #3 Top 2.245

So we were able to order standard rings an install them. Cleaned up the valve faces and seats and new guide seals.
Only 50 kms on it since assembly and I’ve taken it to about 8,000 rpm once. The old kick certainly seems to be back.
Looking forward to finishing break in and leaning out a rich condition. I think it’s gonna be a fun bike to ride again.
