Has anyone found any aftermarket pistons and rings that work with the 1938 xj900rk engine? Unboxed mine today to start the project back up and found wicked aluminum corrosion. Even after cleaning with soapy warm water I found very bad pitting. 1606060614185806709156610015785.jpg 16060606534582521301686839529649.jpg

There is the option, of course...
To get some 2nd hand 58L pistons, new std rings and bore out your 33F barrels.
Not that i did it... actually wait I did!
Talk about getting a fresh engine.
    Just a thought.
Germany has the most 2nd Hand 58L gear by the looks.

Plenty of parts available overthere and in the netherlands aswell. The xj-range was quit popular overhere.

Ebay Germany is my go-to for parts that Chacal doesn't have (and he has most of everything)

Hmmmm the cylinder walls aren't the best so this might be my go to plan. What is the best way to search for those parts? I did a quick search right now and didn't get anything specific? Where would I find the bore specs? Are you talking about the later years xj900 engine?

Also di the wrist pins fit the newer pistons?

Update just checked XJ4EVER, seems like they both use the same wrist pin.

    33F 853cc and 58L 891cc

A bit thinner on the bore walls but... what the hell right?

Oh and gudgeon pins are the same.

One last question, where did you source the piston rings? I found used pistons but am having trouble finding new rings.

    I forgot to mention.
Grab yourself a copy of the XJCD, has all the parts listings for the engines and makes comparison via part number much less painful.
