My rear brake doesn't brake but the thickness of the pads are thick enough i think. When i put the disc in the wheel it just spins around. Help

I don't see any pads on the shoes at all. Show a different angle.

Is there any friction material at all on those things?

Also, on my first XJ, the previous owner had put on some super deduper metallic shoes that I didn't like. They didn't seem to want to "bite", it took a lot of pressure on the brake to get a response. I replaced them with some softer organic units from XJ4Ever and they work and feel a lot better. At least for me - I'm sure it's a personal preference.

Even at that angle I can tell that the friction material is gone. OP needs new shoes.
@yamahaxj750maxim email info@xj4ever to get proper replacements. Instructions included.

Yes shoes are gone, also that axle shaft bolt doesn't look so good and froze into the backing plate is that what I'm seeing in this photo ?
Another issue I learned is when it comes to adjusting the rear shoe linkage leave it a few turns loose and take the tool or wench with you on the final road test as the shoes realign with the pivot points in the backing plate and tighten up the adjustment setting or locking up the wheel rear if you adjust it to spec on the tight side.

Check the drum for scoring under the rust.
