    Trouble. In paridise?

When I decelerate from 3000rpm in top gear I get a grinding sound. Does not seem to happen in other gears. Not. A sharp sound more of a growel. Normal or......

    Tranny, universal, rear end gear?

only have driven this bike for 900km not sure what is normal for these.

No, it's not normal for them to growl. These are the sweetest sounding engines out there when right.
You need to look at exhaust, main stand rattling, check your driveshaft uj and oil in the final drive, anything further and you probably need to take it to someone who knows the model - I wouldn't be stripping anything unless you know.

Just wondering. Put New tires on and rear pinch bolt not tight. 're tourqued main rear nut and pinch bolt. Question: could this give me my growl, not having rear wheel installed right. Universal looks okay, pulled back rubber boot. Will ride today.

Yes it could, won't do your splines any good either.

Rode today and noticed that growl sound only in top gear when you back off from 3000rpm. Do not think final drive the issue. Maybe high gear is cut different so it is noisy ?

Changed the main stand bracket used rubber to deaden vibration.

maybe I am not used to a4 c cyl machine, raised on singles and twins!

Growl... on backing off from 3000RPM, so pretty low RPM.
    Sounds funky.
I can't imagine the sound, but in the drivetrain the things that make noise are the clutch basket bearing or basket assembly mainly (if they have issues), especially if the uni-joint is in good shape.
No help, sorry, weird one to be sure.

Mine had a growel at low rpm. Would have been at high rpm too but couldn't hear it with the airflow and my helmet on. I suspect the bearing in the clutch basket. When l took the clutch cover off l could move the basket side to side. Big needle roller bearing behind the clutch basket nut. New bearing noise disappeared.

    Update
been riding often. When I back off in any other gear other than top gear no noise. From 3 to 4000 rpm. When on centre stand and spin rear wheel by hand nothing weird.
