I recently was able to buy back the 1986 XJ 700 Maxim that I bought as my first bike about 15 years ago. My brother and a friend had it after I did. It runs good but is definitely in need of some TLC.

I bought back my first bike.... xj650k, about 7 yrs after I sold it. It went through several people. In the meantime I had been thinking “if I ever stumble on to it, I’d love to buy it back”. One day I spotted it on Craigslist. Now it’s safely back home.

I never sold my first bike. It was our wedding gift to each other....purchased 36 years ago.

My wife wouldn’t have gone for that. I got her to ride one time with me when we were dating but she doesn’t like it. My 6 yo daughter is wanting to try riding with me sometime so I’m hoping she will like it. Probably wont be till she gets a little older but she is always wanting to sit on my bike and pretend she is riding.

We went on several short weekend trips on it after we were married. I started out as a minister in a small church and in the first 3 years I buried 3 people killed on motorcycles. We also had our first children at that time. My wife literally hasn't been on the bike since about 1989. She didn't want to orphan our kids. Now that we are older and children gone, she is literally allergic to the great outdoors, so she can't go riding even if she wanted to.
On the other hand, 10 years ago, before I found this site, my XJ was not running real well and I talked about selling it. My wife told me to put money into it if needed, but that I should keep it. So, using this forum, and parts from XJ4ever, did the necessary maintenance and still riding it regularly to work and errands as weather permits., even if it isn't a "together" thing anymore. :)

Same here. Before marriage everything goes. After, not so much.
Picture is while in high school, only ride she took.

I don't remember bugs. This was a borrowed Honda CB200.
