I got a call from the guy that's rewiring my 750 Maxim (1982J) he informed me there's no stator/rotor in the bike. I never looked. I bought the bike as a non-runner so it doesn't really surprise me. What is the option, used stock OEM, new OEM, or aftermarket? Also the regulator/retifryer. (misspelt on purpose)

Looks like there is inventory on eBay. Search by part number:
    Rectifier/Regulator assembly: 3G1-81960
    Stator assembly: 4H7-81610

I'm sure less sketchy replacements could be found at xj4ever.com too.

I bought the bike as a non-running bike, I never looked inside the covers. I took the bike to a friend's shop to have a completely new
wire harness built from scratch. When he got into the project he called and told me the news. No big deal really, I'll just buy the parts and continue
with the project. BTW, there weren't any carbs either but I could see that at a glance. What you get for $200.00

lol, I feel you when we got my fathers 550 back from a friend, it had no carbs either... yes I forgot the xj's have the separate alternator from the ignition rotor, newer bikes have them in same case as stator and I was thinking that.

I would have spent the 200 as well 50Gary...

Yeah, the bike is well on it's way to a full revival. I'm happy thus far.
