My eldest brother had a 79 he bought new back then.
I actually rode it quite a bit as we rode everywhere together, me on a Seca Turbo.
He never had an aftermarket exhaust, real shame as the sound track on that video makes my skin tingle.
They are unique except for the riding experience, which is actually kind of dull.
I've never understood the complexity description.
Keeping several old bikes running properly is more complex than 1 CBX.

It would be nice to have in a nice heated showroom. I think it was cool what the engineers did back then, lots of 50+ people love to look at them.

Performance not too sure about never road one, just know collectors really want them. If I found one in good shape for a good price I would pic it up. Might do that just to flip it.

You could buy a mint xj for the price of the parts and labour to do a total overhaul on a set of cbx carbs. Had someone ask a few years back and with genuine Honda bits the parts price was $180 per carb and 700$ labour and that’s just the carbs only add another $2-300 to install and tune.

That’s true. But that’s thinking rationally. There’s nothing rational about a CBX, that’s what’s fun about them. Same could be said for XJs I suppose.

    I think it’s badass

Not practical, not efficient, very fast, very loud

    Very rare apparently

I’ll probably own one someday, just to put about 500 miles on it and park/resell it

First new vehicle Jay Leno ever bought, I've watched that episode a few times. If I had room/time/money for a bunch of odd bikes I'd love one.

It's often mentioned they were ahead of their time but this is a misnomer.
More like an evolutionary dead-end, LOL.
    Still very cool though.

When I was in high school I worked part-time at a small electroplating factory.
The owner had a Benelli Sei sitting inside.
There were open vats of muriatic acid and they etched the finish of the bike, had a lot of rust as a result.
You'll notice similarity to the Honda SOHC 4's as they actually borrowed the design for their six.
There are usually one or two at the Ontario vintage rally each June.

I got thinking about Millyard's 6 cylinder Z1 special and wondered if anyone in the world has made a straight 8.
    Low and behold...
