Master Cylinder Rebuild - baffle plate behind the glass?

    Hi all,

    I'm getting ready to install the new sight glass on an XJ650J master cylinder. It looks like it would be possible to glue the metal baffle (or whatever it's called) that originally went behind the glass back into place.

    Has anybody ever tried re-installing that little piece? Is it worth it?

    Here I have the little piece and the sight glass test fitted:

    well on mine ,(xj600) the metal piece is part of the casting and cannot be removed.
    but as you say, yeh , glue it in place ,then the glass. i used some black silicon sealant, for the glass
