    Power Lock Tag

I just found this in a 1982 Xj650rj. I’ve never seen one before. If there is enough interest, Len may look into having some repopped. Send me private message if you’re interested.

Wow. I've never even seen a photo of one until now. Nice find.

Any idea what it would have been attached to? The chain?

presumably would have come with anything with a chain - that’s interesting

Where was that? I have one that I bought from original owner, curious if it’s still there. I haven’t put it back on the road yet so it may be somewhere I haven’t looked.

I like how paper tags used to be so important that they had metal grommets for the string to pass through.
It was a more respectful time, in some ways.

It’s on all xj’s.... left hand side, just above swingarm pivot...small long/deep pyramid-ish receptacle.

I don't think the 85/86 Maxims had this feature.

As far as I can tell, the following XJ models came with the "Wheel Lock Assembly" (4W5-W2171):
    XJ550H/J/K
    XJ550RH/J
    XJ650G/H/J/K
    XJ650LH/J/K
    XJ750J/K
    XJ750RH/J/K
    XJ750MK
    XJ1100J

Plus a smattering of XS and XV models.

So it looks like the XJ900 and the 85/86 Maxims did not have the locking chain feature.

This saves me the time looking for this obscure and unseen feature.

I’ll check mine. I’m not near mine at the moment.... I know the 550’s, 650’s, 760’s have them.... I assumed the 700’s and 900’s have them too..... I’ll check those.
