Time to replace the original glass fuses and box…. I have read the info on XJ Forevers site, the ready to go kit sounds like a logical place to go…. But by the time I translate it into Canadian dollars with taxes and shipping etc it becomes a $100 deal, seems like a lot to replace 4 fuse connections. In most of my automotive work I try to stick close to original, I’m not so much a purist as I am lazy, someone already figured this out years ago, why rethink it! But if I’m going to the ATC fuse box I’m already heading down the road of thinking for myself and wondering what about…. So with the fuses, what about just replacing the box altogether with 4 separate in-line fuse holders…. Seems like less worry about fit, clearance with the seat, wire length etc…. I’m thinking of 4 of these, correct gauge and fuse size of course! Am I missing something, or would this work?

Sure you can do that and it will work but it will look like rather coarse and not a lot like you want your bike to be "nice". For about the same price as 4 good high quality fuse holders like those you can find a 4 or 5 place panel at an auto parts store like Advance Auto, Pep Boys or one of those or their Canadian equivalents. If you are careful with your conversion it will look almost like it was born there. I was looking for a picture of the last one I did for an example but was unsuccessful in my own computer search.

That is a job well done and looks much better , the three Secas I have replaced the butchered fuse block with individual fuse holders with a proper blade type fuse block .
