I thought I had better give some credit to this bike and put it on the forum for other to see. I have a family friend who is a angle. She helped out my family with my mother in her last days. This bike is hers and she found out that I like to work on project bikes.

Tring to bring it back to life and hope to get it back to the owner or buy it from her.
This is how I found it in my yard on a trailer I had borrowed my sister.

Bike needed to be cleaned up, just a hand soap and water bath and then some degreasing to find the parts and down to paint. There was a box of some of the missing parts but no nuts or bolts at all.

Exhaust on these are one of the first things to go. This bike is no different. My patch job around the battery area to keep heat off the battery, seat and frame. I added some tank seal putty to the areas that were not sealed by my nasty welding. That is some thin metal.

Some of the exhaust was just too much to seal up with my still and the metal I have around. An aftermarket pipe is around $75 I think. That will be the way to go once it is roadworthy.

Soaked the carb for 48 yrs and then got it cleaned up. The small jet in this carb are the smallest I have even seen. The carb also has the petcock build into it, so the off, Res and On are all part of the carb. Carb has two fuel lines that go to it, one is On, and the other is Res.

6VDC system, I have an older analog charger that does 6amp at 6VDC so that worked out well. The bike does start easy and runs okay. Have to do some fine tuning on the jets to get it working and running better. Lots of carbon in the piston and vale area, will get some fuel additive in there and get that cleaned up.

The tank soaked in evaporust for a week and cleaned up well. Two exit ports with different size towers inside the tank. One is for the On and the other is for Res. Had to order some very thin walled 3/8" OD fuel line as normal line will not route through the body panels. Both fuel lines have to go through one hole as they come out of the frame.
Removed both tires yesterday to clean the rims, check the drum brakes and just make sure it will move and stop when going down the rd. Both axles were clean and full of grease, I was shocked but very happy about this.

Chain had a master link, removed the chain and let it soak in solution for half a day. Scrubbed it and then hit with compressed air. Cleaned up well, back on the bike and have penetrating oil on it. All links seem to be free and very little ware on the front and back sprockets. Waiting on the fuel lines today so I can get the bike off the table and on the rd.

48 years to soak a carburettor that's dedication :p. Great little engines on those machines, hope you get the parts you need. Good luck Timbox getting it sorted for her.

Nice little project. When it grows up, it wants to be like an XJ.............

Bike is back on the road. Interesting getting used to no clutch and that all down shifting. It has a heal toe shifter, and I don't think anyone has the flexibility to use the heal on that part. Had to use the toe of my foot and just feel for that portion of the shifter and push down that portion to down shift.

After running it a few miles, the bike smoothed right out. Even have the idle set and for the most part, engine and safety work are done. New tires, seat cover and exhaust will compleat the refresh.

Ordered the exhaust and the seat cover for her yesterday. That will more or less complete the restoration. A lot of little cosmetic stuff could be done too. I am hoping that the owner will keep me in mind if and when she wants to let this bike go.
