    Entire bike is fixed, rebuilt, fresh! Transmission shifts like a dream! I have top end meticulously tore down and stored. Primary chain needs replacing and it is on Non Op until I get to it which might be never... I have about 3 grand into it. First $1000 takes it.. Lots of extras. In N Cali. Fairfield.

    I’m thinking he’s selling as is, if it was all fixed and assembled the price would be higher. And he wants the new owner to take on the challenge.

    @Robert Powell
    The HY-VO chain for the alternator needs to be replaced?
    Are you sure? Those are darn near bulletproof.
    Which chain are you refrencing that needs replaced?
    There are only two: The camshaft chain, and the alternator chain.

    Yes, trying to sell as is or I will eventually get to it and split the case to replace the primary chain. K-moe, it is the engine primary chain that I am in need of replacing which requires splitting the case.... Take care all!!!

    You will have to replace the chain guide too. Was the chain hitting the crankcase and did you check the oil spray nozzle for damage from the chain, behind the alternator rotor and bearing plate with the three torx bolts? Nice bike.

    Ahh...nomenclature. The shaft driven XJ's do not have a primary drive chain. That chain just spins the alternator, and allows the starter to spin the engine.

    It will be my retirement project if no one ends up wanting it! :) I have never completely rebuilt an engine and kind of look forward to it... These bikes really are screamers when they are running the way they are supposed to!!! Thanks for the replies guys!! :)
