I‘m new here, having just bought a 1983 XJ900. I‘ve been searching high and low for a replacement part, without any joy. So I thought I‘d try here. The part number is
    31A-2835J-00-98.
It sits left of the oil cooler, running backwards along the underside of the fuel tank.
I‘ve tried to attach a picture.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

There's two of them. One on the left, one on the right.

    Good luck with your search----Unobtanium

Thanks hogfiddles. Yeah, almost impossible to find new. I just hoped someone on here might have some (used) they don‘t need ...or know someone else who has them.

I managed to find the right side (new) but left is not so easy!

    Thanks again...

On the subject of plastic parts are Yamaha and other manufacturers using plastic fuel tanks more and more?

Thanks for the tip. I got a quote recently ...approx. twice as much as I paid for the bike!

Triumph have used plastic tanks in the past, along with Ducati...not good, when used with ethanol blend fuels......they seem to produce a decent amount of warping....on some....I THINK Acerbis, who used to be big off road suppliers, made the plastics for both marques....

My cousins Aprillia 1000 has a plastic tank too. I am considering using a tank sealer in one of my XJ 900f tanks.
