For Sale 1985 XJ700N Parts

I've got a 1985 XJ700N (airhead) parts bike that has some parts that are looking for a good home.

I haven't got everything inventoried and photographed yet, but I wanted to see if anybody here wanted "dibs" on any parts.

The carbs are the 1985-only airhead Hitachis with the octopus of vent hoses off the back. I kind of need carb #4, so I would only sell the entire rack if the price was right. If you just need one or more of carb #1, #2, or #3, then that's perfect.

Here's what I know for sure I DON'T HAVE: side covers, rear seat, rear grab bar or backrest, air box, battery box, rear fender. Also, the exhaust was hacked up and is probably trash.

Tank is in good shape, needs repaint, no rust. Front seat has been recovered, but is usable, pan is good.

The odometer indicates 4,500 miles on the bike. I don't know if that is accurate or not. The bike ran a couple years ago until somebody started a cafe racer project then gave up. If someone is interested in an affordable XJ700 airhead engine with (presumably) low miles, here is your chance. All the good stuff is there - starter, stator, etc.

I took the bowls off of the carbs to inspect the insides a bit. The usual amount of gunk in there - they are definitely ready for a cleaning. Other than that they look pretty good - slides move, float perches not broken, etc.

 

Did a compression test. According to my cheapo compression test gauge:
#1: 140
#2: 140
#3: 140
#4: 130

This bike only has 4511 miles on the clock (as far as I know), so I doubt that valve lash has ever been checked.

 

Headers look good. Collector is trash, and muffler cans are gone.
