81 maxim xj650 extending out the forks help

hi I am working on my project and since I hard tailed the frame I don't like the stance of the bike the rear was lowered and the front stayed the same height it just looks odd to me don't like it one bit but before I do some chopping and welding I would like to hear tips and advices from some of you on what I should and shouldn't do and hopefully see some of your pics and your bikes turnout I am wanting to change the rake on my bike and have the front wheel stick out a little further out, sort of like a chopper I figured by doing this it would lower the front end a little bit and it would even out the whole stance of the bike here is a pic of what I am looking to do any tips and advice would be very much appreciated thank you

 

loosen the fork tube brackets let the tubes come up a few inches and get some clip ons.
bringing the top of the tube back is going to cause clearance issues with tank
raking is quite a project have you considered buying a generic frame and building on that.

 

Honestly I think you nailed one of the classic custom bike looks.

I have been reading up a lot on raking the frame and I think I'm pretty confident in doing it

 

the complete bike is his goal I think. and that is a beauty

 

This project was never supposed to be this big lol

 

None of them ever are. That's just how that works.

You stretch the front end out, its going to handle like a tractor trailer and not a motorcycle...

 

Would you consider a 21 inch front wheel
