I have been rebuilding an 82 xj750 for some time now, and i went to do the valve shim clearance check but since the bike had been sitting all winter with a bad valve cover gasket, it got water in the top of the engine. As per hogfiddles recommendation, i cleaned out the top the best i could from all the pooled water and rust on the cam lobes, and left it in the sun to dry out more. I tried to start it yesterday, only to find out that the starter spins, but doesnt want to catch. Time to rebuild the starter?
