84 hitachi's work ok on 82

    I'm pretty sure they are the same rack, but wanted to check here first. Carbs from an 84 750 Seca should be the same as my 82 correct?

    I may have to splurge and get a new set, i'm so sick of the worn out rack I have.

    No, the 1984 XJ750 Seca (750RL) used HSC33 series carbs; all the earlier models with Hitachi carbs used the HSC32 series. The 33's are bigger, both in throat size and in the outer flanges (where the intake manifolds fit) and are physically wider (greater spacing between carb bodies) and not something that I'd recommend trying to swap.
