Hi, first post here. I found bike 000199 and have been working diligently on undoing years of jimmy rigging from previous owners and years of neglect. It is 100% disassembled except the motor. It has been painted over but luckily they didnt sand anything down and all of the original stripes show underneath. I don't know what I would have done without them...
My question is , I read that only the XJ900 has the air dam hooks on the tank, but my 750 has them. Does this mean it is the wrong tank?
I have recently picked up a vast first hand knowledge of these bikes and it is a nice machine to clean up and work on.
Does anyone know if 199 has been registered.
    Thanx

The '84 XJ750 is really an XJ900 with the 750 engine. Is that the 750 you have?
AFIK the 900 is the only XJ with the air diverters.

That's what I am lead to believe, it is serial number 44x-000199, ownership says xj750, and it has the three round gauges.

Well the xj900 tank will fit onto that 750. 44x is the frame ID for a 1984 Canadian XJ750RL.
You have one of 601 made for Canada, so it's likely that a tipover resulted in a swap for the slightly more common XJ900 tank.

This bike is turning out to be a make shift bride of Frankenstein, the side stand doesn't even come close to making contact with the stand switch. I don't know what it is supposed to look like...

    Order,the tank is a replacement from a 900.

Now, you also need to know that yours is a low build...first one was 000101, this make yours the 99th one.

I have the lowest serial for the 900rk....117 :)

I'm not very far for the 900rk's I have the 189 and the 192.

With the way the 750RL front fairing is designed, I'm not even sure there would be any room for the scoops between the bttom of the fuel tank and the bottom of the fairing.

The hooks dont come anywhere close to the fairing, are we looking at the same hooks?

The hooks on the tank SHOULDNT come anywhere close to the fairing. they were for the airscoops to be able to hook onto the tank. The fairing would be on the outside of the scoops. There's not much clearance between the fairing and the scoops when they are installed, but they do fit. Look at the 900rk in my gallery and you will quickly see what the scoops are........

Hello, I have number #160 here in Calgary, its in very close to mint original condition, it has the hooks on the bottom of the tank as well, see picture. I also have a parts XJ750RL here too, it’s a lot later down the line than my nice one # 392, the 291 made.

Reg— I have a small 750rl addendum to the USA 900rk database.
According to that, I already have the #000160 entered.... check your engine, and I believe you’ll find it’s a replacement from #000365, according the info given to me when the number was submitted.
