FYI, There's an interesting article in the current issue of Roadbikemag about this guy who breaks the IBA (Iron Butt Association) 96 hour Coast to Coast Challenge record.

So the 49 year old diabetic modifies his 2005 FJR tank using sheet metal from a wrecked Chevy Monte Carlo to enlarge it to 13 gallons. He starts out on a road featured in the tv show Ice Road Truckers, gets hassled at the boarder crossing and gives cudos to Action Yamaha in NJ. He states '"the bike had 140,000 miles when I left Alaska and was absolutely faultless all the way through".

It seems Yamaha makes some great bikes and they have for years...

You can visit roadbikemag.com, but it seems they want a subscription. The article is in the current March/April issue.

Best bet, google John Ryan coast. You'll see several links to www.fjrforum.com and goldwingfacts.com. The goldwing site links to www.bmwmoa.org and they have the best pictures.

Crazy stuff, the dude beat the record by 10hrs covering 5600 miles! He took only 2 hr naps along the way. A good chunk of the ride was spent in continous rain. Asked about the weather, JR replied, " the worse it is, the better I like it".
