i broke a few of my lock washers for the brake rotors while taking them off.

i was wondering if i could replace them with something else? normal washers + thread lock or normal lock washers for a single bolt?

what have you guys done? i bet someone has broken those too.. .

another question how mandatory is it to replace the rotor bolts?

i used stainless allen heads with a flat washer and blue (removable)
thread locker, clean everything and follow the instructions
i don't see anything wrong with using them again

I've gone the same route with stainless bolts and a dab of blue loctite. If you want to replace the stock lockwashers Chacal has then. Send him a PM.

Which XJ did you put allen head bolts on Polock? I tried them on my XJ1100 but they were to tall to clear the speedo drive. They fit on the other rorots though.

I'm Paranoid about Torque and Safety when it comes to Brake Parts.

I'd replace the Bend-over's, use Locktite and Torque to Specs.

Then, to keep the exposed parts from rusting, ... "Paint" the Safety Bend-over and Hex Head with Nail Polish.

(You cut the Nail Polish Brush from the Cap. Discard it. It dries fast. So, I let two drops fill the "Vee" of a folded 3X5 Card. Drag a find line brush through the color and paint.)

Rotor bolts aren't "normal" bolts, they have a shouldered shank on them between the threads and the head; they can be reused if not damaged.

Personally, I replace the tab washers; chacal carries them and you can still get them from Yamaha.

thanks guys. i already cleaned my bolts and i will reuse them since they dont show any wear.
bigfitz is correct about the shouldered shank, i wouldnt use regular bolts either. also doenst the black color of the bolt indicate hardness of the metal? being harder than stainless?

havent decided the way to go yet with the washers...
