Multimeter shows about 12.4 to 12.7 volts when running. When I rev it up, it hits about 12.7v I changed the regulator/rectifier with no help. I then put new brushes on the stator(inside cover plate). 1 of the old brushes was about 1/2 the original size, so I thought that was the fix. Still only putting out 12.7v. What should I check next? Stator coil? This has me stumped!

Check to make sure you are getting 12v in to the brushes. If you were to take a very thin feeler gauge and hold it close to but touching the alternator cover then start the bike. If the feeler gauge gets pulled to the cover, the magnets are being magnified.

Could be the stator or the rotor... the shellack that was used breaks down over the years , both are not cheap. I believe the manual has a test of the stator , not sure about rotor.

did you clean the copper rings that the brushes ride on?
hard art eraser and electric spray cleaner to clean off

If your charging voltages are too low, suspect the alternator brushes first, then perform the alternator stator and rotor checks as described in the Alternator Section.
