Any suggestions on a stand to fit the XJ engines? I could probably weld up something to fit a 1/2T engine stand, just curious if anyone has used a commercial stand for their bike engine.

I just set the engine on my workbench and turn it as needed.
A junk frame is a handy start to an engine stand.

I want to be able to rotate it side to side without breaking stuff off. Will probably use the spare harness to do break-in so issues can be addressed off-frame

An old tire works great for sitting an engine on its side or upside down. Member Joe Eliff showed me this handy tip, when I bought spare engine from him.

I never have managed to break anything off of an engine, but I can see where the concern might come from.

I will probably fab something this weekend to fit the harbor freight special. With the head bolted on it wants to roll over and play dead every time I move it. Most annoying.

That remnds me...I do use scrap wood to block it into position. The tire idea seems sound, and handy, and cheap.

I've seen several sling cradles and a few engine-specific (HD mostly) ones like that. The tough part with a rolling stand adapter is there is stuff on both sides you need to get to. A bench stand lets you get to it all, if the bottom is open, but I don't have room on my bench for that. Time to re-organize. I think I'm going to work on an aluminum tube cradle design with lift points for the crane. I usually have to deal with the weight by myself. I'm sure someone will buy it later if I decide to get rid of it.

The frame mounts on the 550 would probably fit that, need to measure. I was actually thinking of making something similar, with bolt holes to adjust the hanger widths. would cost me more than $200 to design and fab it up.
