hi from a newbie. I've got an 82 XJ650(j, i think). anyway, i cant find my manual. what lube goes in the final drive rear hub? i think it needs a little, but dont want to open before i have more to change it. all help appreciated.

anyway, I'm in the DFW area, Arlington, and looking for some pointers and such on how to fix up this old bike.Had it just over a year now, but havent done anything to it yet. works great except for the float valves are bed(fuel overflows into oil). that will be fixed too, soon i hope.

    thanks in advance.

    Welcome
Yes the J in 650J tells you it's an 82, I think 650G is 81, and 650H is 83, or something like that. I also have a J model which I recently bought.
The correct oils according to Haynes manual.
    SAE 80 API 'GL-4'
or SAE 80/90 Hypoid gear oil

You'll find the people here very helpful.
    Again welcome & good luck
