Looking for pair of fork uppers, straight with good chrome for a Seca 550. Have lots of other parts for this bike for swap or trade, or will pay cash. Hoping to source locally or close by. I'm in Ottawa, Ontario.

    No One?

Running out of options as I can't get the pitted pair rechromed or the bent pair straightened in this part of the world...

I have 650 Seca tubes off an '86. No idea if they would work.

Shipping would probably kill the deal though.

Why not? There must be someone who does hard chroming for industrial stuff like hydraulic rams etc

Thanks for the offer Busted Knuckles but 650 tubes are bigger and wouldn't fit. As for what Kickaha questioned, its hard to believe but I live in a city with a metropolitan population of almost 1 million, but it is so white collar that there is not a single place in the entire city that does chrome plating. It all gets shipped out to Montreal, 2 hours away, and like Busted Knuckles said, the shipping costs is what kills that as a possible route.

    Thanks for the research!!

I'll look into them, but I bet even they send their stuff out to somewhere in Montreal. I know "Ottawa" Brass did that with my VMax sidecovers. But hey, I'll ask Hydrauli-Chrome for a quote....

    Thanks Again.

I should be on commission for this...

'Our plating facility is fully operational 7 days a week. Thanks to our in-house hard-chrome plating bath,'

If UK prices are anything to go buy you should be looking at about 200 USD for teh pair..maybe less.

We do carry brand new tubes:

HCP8523 Aftermarket chrome INNER FORK TUBE, fits left or right side, for all 1981-1983 XJ550 Seca models. NOTE: these tubes use a circlip-retained upper cap bolt (HCP8255); some models may have used threaded upper cap bolt, in which case you should order the HCP8524 fork tubes listed below. Please verify which style you have before ordering! Each:
    $ in-stock!

They aren't cheap, and shipping to Canada won't be cheap easier (any place over the border in the USA you can have them shipped to?), but.....

Thanks Len - that's good to know if all other options fail, there's always new from you! (I'm almost scared to ask what a 75 cent Canadian dollar might mean to the final purchase price).....but for now I may try to find a decent pair from the "local" (1 hour away) wrecker or a machine shop that can straighten my bent ones.

I'm having the same problem in the UK. Is there anyone here who can re-chrome or supply new?

Just saw this. I have a full front end off of an 83 XJ550 Maxim that is sitting in my garage. Do you still need this? I am located in Kansas though, so it might cost an arm and a leg to ship it out to you.

I think tube diameters are different between Seca and Maximm 550s ?? Read that somewhere; not sure where...but thanks for the offer, I may take you up on it if I run out of options. I'm currently trying to get local machine shops to look at the bent ones for possible repair, but I'm not optimistic at this point. I'll also try to ride out to Perth at some point to see if Woody's (wreckers) has any in decent shape.

Correct........XJ550 Seca are 35mm tubes, XJ550 Maxim are 36mm tubes.

In case you were interested, a GSXR750 front end is about as close to a direct swap as you can get. That's what I have on mine now. The inverted forks and dual big brakes are awesome. That may be easier to source than a new Seca front end. I also have triples that I'm not using that could go with the forks.

Anyone know if the fork tubes from an Yamaha XS400 are a direct swap? These are also 35mm.
