I have a 1982 xj750 and I need to replace the grips. I can't find if they are 1" or 7/8". If anyone knows I would really appreciate it. Also any tricks on replacing them would be handy too. Thanks ! I'm a noob

kit will come with 2 sized grips 1 for the throttle 1" and 1 for the left side 7/8".
7/8 and 1" will be called 7/8" on the package
a little soap and water does the trick. I have read there are now special liquids available.
be carefull cuting the throttle side off do not cut into the plastic of the throttle assembly.

Throttle side is splined and slides onto the throttle tube

Great! Thanks guys! I'll order the 7/8" grips today. I found some rad ones from biltwell. They are called Kung-fu grips. They are inexpensive and I will eventually be changing the bars so this is just to get me through till I change them out. Thanks again! This site is awesome

wash and dry inside your new grips, sometimes they have mould release stuff in there. makes them try to slip off, that's bad

You'll also want to trim off the "big bumps" from the end of the throttle tube that lock the stock grips into place. Aftermarket grips won't have the depressions molded into them and will end up not being able to go on all of the way.

Also look into getting a pair of replica Gran Turismo grips. They are super comfy without being mushy like the foam grips.

Plus one on the Gran Turismo's
They are great for anti fatigue on my hands and wrists.
