What's everyone using for a helmet lock, so they don't have to lug that thing around?

Are you just using a little chain with the lock-clip that the bike came with, or something else?

something fancy that goes on the handlebars?

Maybe just sticking it on the throttle grip and a short prayer that it's still there when you come back? ;)

nothing we do not have a helmet law so very little chance of someone stealing my helmet I just hang it on the crash bar foot peg

if you really want your helmet when you get back, take it with you.
if you hang it on the bike and find it has some yellowish liquid in it, it's probably not beer

    My bike has a trunk.
Sometimes it also has a trailer.
    They both lock.
But mostly I just use the factory-supplied helmet lock. I've never had any trouble, even when parked in downtown KC, MO.
I think the key is to not wear a really expensive helmet, and make your bike look like it's about to break-down.

Hah! I do usually benefit from most things I drive or ride looking like they're ready for the glue factory.

    More importantly....
    is this first-hand knowledge? :)

I bet I've never told y'all about the time I went out to go to work, and somebody dodging their warrant pulled a little tiny folding-knife on me, asking for a lift? Such a sweet-talker.

I was happy I'd already started my Virago, what with that damn starter problem. :) I just rode off and left him there looking like a.. well, an escapee, I guess.

... but I digress. One too many drinks.

My xj550 has helmet lock mounted on left side of frame at end of the grab bar. Don't other XJ models have these?

That, and if you have an expensive helmet people will just cut the strap off.

I just bring it with me
Mine are fairly expensive and I’d hate to get stranded somewhere without a lid.

It seems like most locks are in a goofy spot anyways. I recall some people using a 10mm wrench through the D ring and putting the boxed end through the lock for a spacer
