Good morning, my name is Facundo, I am from Argentina, and I ask for your help. Like a fool wanting to change the transmission oil with a clamp, turn this plug instead of the correct nut. This is the vent plug, right? What broke? What can I do now? ... Help me please, here in Argentina this piece is not available ...

From already thank you very much

That was on top of the rear differential. correct? That is the vent cover. I don't know if it's replaceable.

If it is on top and now there is the cone that you see in the image; Can I put some rubber stopper on it or something? Or can I stick the cover around the edges? ... The question is does it affect the operation of the transmission at all or can I walk like this without problems?

Thank you very much for answering

I have heard of the oil level filler plug shearing off. Can you push the breather cap back on to the driveshaft unit?

The cap on that vent cannot be replaced because it looks like it was weakly attached to the vent and when turned it was cut.

Question: is it just a lid or did it have something else underneath that could have fallen into the oil?

I say because if it's just that cap that was cut from the breather cone, I put it on or put a rubber stopper on it or something ...

    Can you guide me ???

Is the hole on top plugged with the stub that was twisted off or is it open now?

It is a hole of 1 or 2 mm maximum and it is open because the cap of the photo was apparently glued or attached somewhere to the cone that you see in the last photo, there is also the hole

    Questions:

Is it just a lid or does it have something else underneath that could have fallen into the oil?

Can I glue this cover and ready ??? or can I have some problem of operation?

I will appreciate your answers ...

    Greetings from Argentina

I'm thinking the hole is where there was a small center post inside the cover you twisted off. The cover may have been pressed on with the post a press fit in the hole. Without seeing a good part from the inside it is an unknown to me. If that is the case, the twisted off part may have fallen inside. Does it look like there was a post in the center of the cover that got twisted off?

    Ask Len, he’ll know.

but whatever the case, if worse comes to worst—just get another rear drive assembly. There’s plenty around

It's a cover for the breather so that rain can't get in. New breathers are available. IRRC they are a press fit.
