Before: This is not a true Midnight rack.....it's a standard rack that has been blacked out. I"ve tried to retain as much of the black paint as possible, but there will be s ome touch up that will need to be done. I did, however, remove all the paint on the whole throttle shaft rail, and the whole enricher circuit, as well as the brackets on top. That will add a bit of 'detail bling' to your rack.

Notice the missing and/or bent hardware - that will be corrected

Notice the bent throat on #4 carb.....the butterfly could not open more than a little bit. Now it's nice and round again, and the butterfly opens perfectly :)

Notice the caps were on wrong - they aren't anymore :)

I don't know how it got that like that, but it kept the butterfly from opening any more of that about one quarter of the way open.

No, I did not replace the body… I spent about an hour or so with a mallet, rawhide hammer and a couple different steel mandrels and a lot of life and massaging, and careful use of heat. I figured if worse comes to worse than I do Replace the body, but I didn't have to :)

This kind of relates to a thought I had. Would anodizing carb bodies be viable? Maybe an alternative to painting the bodies like that, and you'd avoid the flaking off of paint eventually. Would that possibly clog up some of the finer holes, or get discolored quickly because of the gas?

Cast parts don't color anodize in a predictible manner. You'd be lucky to get an even coloring across the surface of one carb. I'm not sure it would be possible to get them all to match.

Bummer, oh well. I figured there was a reason I haven't seen anyone do out before.
