Got a 85 xj700n. Runs great once its warmed up but does not idle well cold. Idles just over 700 rpm after start up and likes to stall at stops until its been running for 5-10 minutes. Once it warms up the idle comes up to about 1500 rpm or more! If I adjust the base idle when cold then it screams at about 3000 rpm when warm. Can't seem to find a happy medium with the idle set screw to make it idle decent cold but not race warm. Any ideas?

Sounds like a carb sync would take care of most of that. Colortuning would help also. The colortune would tell if a carb cleaning is necessary. But mostly a good tuning should do it.

    Tweak it.
If the Anti-tamper plugs are out and you can adjust the Pilot Screws. Make a screwdriver that FITS the Pilot Screw slot PERFECTLY!

Turn 'em down all the way ... 'til they bottom-out!
Run 'em back OUT to between 2.75 and 3.0 Turns OUT.
Split the difference closer to 3 Turns OUT.

Post what happens after you get it Tweaked like this.
