alright, well the safety switch still works, I just have to bend down and pull out the metal piece which goes in when the kickstand is down. I was wondering if the whole switch is bad and needs replacing or if there is some way to pull the little boot off and lube it up so it will come out on its own. I did a search but couldn't find any info on problems like mine.

Try spraying some dilectrect grease in the boot with one of those tiny spray straws. Then work the plunger switch a bit to get the grease down the channel so it will work better. Be carefull of the rubber boot, they don't make a replacement for them and, when they get ripped you let more dirt in and, the function will start to fail after time.

    Cheers

+1 on being careful with the boot; they have a tendency to split into a collection of little rubber rings.
