    Hi,

I'm looking for tank emblems for a XJ550 Seca to complete my Seca rebuild. From what I understand, emblems from some other XJ's also fit (xj1100, for example). Would anyone have a pair in reasonable shape they would let go for a reasonable cost ? I intend to repaint them in any case. TIA.........

The ones for the 650 Maxim fit fine; you can get them brand new from chacal for not a lot of $$.

I have them on both of my 550 Secas.

Thanks for the info bigfitz...those Seca 650 emblems you used on your 550 Seca, were they screw on type or adhesive type? I read on here somewhere that XJ650 emblems had holes 4" apart, while XJ550 emblems has holes 4 1/8" apart. Maybe I'm wrong, I'll check the shattered remains of my one remaining old emblem when I get home today to see what the spacing is. Either way, it's the fit with the tank curvature that matters (I can always use adhesive tape), and you'd know about that having done it!

650 Seca emblems are adhesive-backed, the 650 Maxim emblems are screw-on and the mounting holes WILL line up with the 550 tanks.......

I bought a paid with the tape and the other guy is right they don't line up. They are short by 1/8. I used the front screw along with the tape and for asthetics i ground down the back screws and super glued the faces on emblem. I hope the front hold up?????????????

Seca 650 emblems are stick-on and chrome.

I used 650 Maxim (gold, screw on) emblems, same ones chacal offers (except I got raped by Yamaha for mine) and they bolted right on.

Yes, the tank curvature is slightly different. I tightened them gently, bit by bit until just "snug." Nipped down a bit tighter after a couple days sitting in bright sunshine and getting nice and warm. You absolutely cannot tell they were not for that bike.

I measured the old broken 550 emblems, and the bolt holes are exactly 4" apart. So the MAXIM emblems from the 650 should work, provided they are eased onto the different shaped tank slowly over time.

    thanks !
