I've been rebuilding the first 2 of my carbs, (as in the studlock for butterflies ) thread.
anyhow came across this whilst checking main jets.
    carb #1 has 105
    carb#2 has 102.5
    carb#3 has 102.5
    carb #4has 105
I would have thought this would be correct, possibly because the middle 2 cylinders run hotter?

    however the Haynes states

    carb #1&2 should have 105
    carb #3&4 should have 102.5
which is right for the xj600?

thanks , rooster, that thread is exactly the topic I need,
so it seems the general feeling is for the 102.5s go in 1 and 4 carbs
and 105s go in 2and 3 carbs. which would mean both the Haynes and my carbs were wrongo_O

if you look closely there's another "mistake" on the Haynes page I posted above.
further down where it says" jet needle clip position"
for xj600 it says carbs #1-#3-#4 use clip position 3
then it says carbs #2 -#3 use clip position 4.
it can't have #3 with 2 different positions.
so its not unusual to have mistakes in the Haynes, that's why I sought to clarify.
    brill, cheers,
    stu:oops:
