master cylinder rebuild kit

    so----- I got my rebuild kit for the rear master cylinder---

    question is whats the best way to get the little rubber seal over the end of the cylinder plunger?

    the old one is shown here but I thought the new seal would be already on the plunger--- but it aint.

    the seal looks very small for the end of the plunger, so what?
    washing up liquid, brake fluid ,hot water , engine oil,
    any ideas :?

    I would use brake fluid. Be careful not to nick the seal. Check for burrs and rough spots on the plunger and remove. The seal rubber is fairly plyable and should go on without too much difficulty.

    I think I would use brake fluid. I don't think I would want to use anything else for fear of contaminating the brake fluid.

    Use brake fluid and four of your fingers one on each side. So you dont rip it. Lube the inside of it with a qtip or something so you can still grip the outside. Been awhile since i did mine but i remember it being pretty thick rubber.
