I do this to all my bikes, it's cheap and cleans up the nasty looking engine bolts. I have a collet chuck for the lathe so I take about .020" off each of the head and put a light chamfer on the shoulder. Most bolts come with some stampings on the head so this is the main reason to clean up the heads. They shine like man jewelry after that, they are socket (allen) head so they get rid of any phillips head bolts which I hate.

My Motor has never been apart so I will do whatever the factory did with regard to the washers. There's big fastener supply two doors down from work but they kill ya on one-zy, twozy in stainless,
but I usually replace anything that's low mounted or likely to give me trouble with rust or corrosion. Anti-sieze grease too.
