Does anybody know the correct oil capacity? How many quarts of oil should I add after changing it. Seems like a stupid question, but have gotten different answers from different people (including Yamaha Shop). No I haven't gotten a manual yet, still waiting.

    Thanks

Your bike has the answer cast into it.

Just to the rear of the filler cap are some numbers cast into the cover; if your 650 is the same as mine, it says "2500cm3." That's 2500cc's or 2.5 litres. (2.6qt.)

HOWEVER: The oil level, checked on the centerstand, should be slightly above the upper marks, with just a "bubble" showing at the top. This will require a 200cc or so overfill; the reason for this is to keep the oil level sensor happy during hard acceleration.

    So just under 3 qts.

As far as which oil, do a forum search, it has been discussed to death; or just use Castrol 4T 20W50 "motorcycle oil."
