Opinions on plugs

    Here's a pic of my plugs from my 82 XJ650 Maxim. Tell me what you think.

    Is the pic too big? I'm not sure of the guidelines for the forum. The plugs are left to right, 1,2,3,4.

    I believe cylinders 1 and 3 are running lean, where cylinders 2 and 4 are running really rich. That is, if I remember my colors correctly haha.

    1 and 3 are perfect

    1 is lean

    2 is very rich

    3 is lean

    4 is somewhat rich

    The ground straps show that you have the correct heat range plug.

    You want to get the insulators as close to paper-bag brown as you can.

    A Gunson Colortune makes the job much easier.

    I took these out while I'm waiting on my shim removal tool. I have some valves that are out of spec. When I get those in spec, will the lean and rich conditions be affected?
