Between the plate and diaphragm. The spring keeps it closed - vacuum pulls it open

boy i wish i got a hold of these hints before i took mine apart! here i was missing the spring (must've sprung off during disassembling/cleaning) and i never knew about it. I learned fast since gas was filling up my oil tank and leaking everywhere... i was lucky to find a guy across the country through online help and am back on the road without any leaks. the vacuum idea of these either make or break your success with gas problems...
