    I believe its to cap off the drilling for the oil feed to the cams. you could hook up a oil pressure guage to it ,though it wouldn't give you crank pressure

    Yep. Oil gallery plug. Some got screws (as yours has), while others got a pressed-in plug (as mine has).
    Best to leave it alone, unless you are confident in removing the stub should it break off.

    I have a 550 motor with the screw instead of the plug in just 1 location. the same location as showen above.

    so is that a factory fix or a dealership fix?

    Factory. Not a fix, just a thing they decided to do for some (currently) unknown reason.
    Many small changes happen during production for various reasons. Cost-cutting, efficiency increases, loss of a supply of parts from a subcontractor, and in Japan the requirement to use a certain number of parts from another Japanese company even if you can make the part in-house (part of the effort to rebuild industry after WWII).

    Screw on the #4 side and a plug on the #1 side. I didn't remove it, I was just wondering what it was, thank you all.
