    If you used walnut on the inside then you don't need to do anything at all, aside from a thorough cleaning. The castings are nonporous, and no coating was used at the factory.
    OEM type engine paint on the exterior will cover the glint of any imbedded glass. @chacal has the OEM colors.

    I guess my concern is will I be able to get the oil galleys cleaned of the glass. If I did buy another crankcase where the bearing inserts were color coded and numbers engraved on the case would that be an issue?
