K-moe said, "I love that bike, and the story behind it. Best use of a Chevette ever!!"

I think the best story I ever heard about him was how he would just call up a buddy, or someone...and ask if they want to ride down to get a steak and fries----- then after pick-up, ride down to TEXAS, eat, then ride home.

I saw one of those American Picker type shows where they tracked that thing down and one guy was able to acquire it. Still ran when they pulled out of barn. Great story behind it.

What's in The Barn was the show. Dale Walksler of Wheels Through Time museum in North Carolina. He didn't get to buy it, but a dealer he knows did.

Yup, that was it. Yes I recall the end where Dale got there and the other guy was there first. I didn't know there was two and I'm curious on the story.

I don't have a link, but the full story (as I recall) is that the bike pictured above wa a prototype, and the bike that was on that show was the first re-work of what was going to be a production machine. He started building frames and was advertising them for sale as complete bikes to be built on order when there was a police action of some sort about a drug deal, which resulted in a shootout and the bulder's death.

Yeah, that show was pretty awesome. Learned a bunch about antique bikes from Dale.
