swapped the bars on my ‘82 XJ550 Maxim and now the start button won’t turn the bike. I’ve been having to bump start it. I replaced the solenoid, tested all the power flow, double checked wiring and everything should work. I think the issue is the clutch sensor. The wire for it is really loose and I think it might have broke when re-arranging the wiring for the new bars. Is there a way to either make the sensor think the clutch is engaged or even a way to bypass that sensor?

You could possibly test it by putting a jumper wire between the terminals going to the clutch switch.

on some bikes the throttle side needs a ground to the bars. are your new bars painted/powder coated/anodized?
you may need to scrape a little off
