    hi,
i removed my plugs in november cause my bike was going to be sitting for a while. yesterday i started to get things ready to ride again and went tried to screw in the plugs and the outer plug on each side won't go. i fiddled with each thinking i just wasn't threading them right but no dice. somethings ups with the cylinders i think.

any ideas on whats wrong? i replaced the plugs a couple months before removing for the winter and had no troubles ...

    thanks - nathan

If you removed the plugs in November and left them out until now the plug holes have probably corroded over. I would get a thread chaser, grease it up and run it thru the plug holes.

In the future leave the plugs in place.

I agree with Nick. A thread chaser would be the way to go. Then use a short piece of hose to screw the plug back in, instead of trying to start screwing it in with a socket.

Dress the threads of the Spark Plug with a dab of Petroleum Jelly ... smeared-on -- NOT gobbed-on.

Roll-up a corner of a rag tight-enough to be "Threaded-into" the Spark Plug hole. Spray the rag with Carb Cleaner and "Thread-it in-there"

Reverse the twist while rag is threaded-in the hole. Bring out the rag and the threads should be nice and clean. Put a smear of Petroleum Jelly on your little finger tip and lube the plug-hole threads.

Now, carefully start the Plug -- being mindful that it on a bit of a slant.
If it's being a pain ... turn it the opposite way ... real slowly ... and FEEL for the spot where the two thread cuts pass ... like your trying to crack a safe ... you'll feel the "Give" ... turn it IN there.

    Don't force it.
If you lose the battle ...
Run the Thread-Chase tap in it.
