I was just looking into some new brake lines. I know that the line is broken in to two lines on my bike. After reading the corresponding sections in the Haynes manual, I couldn't find any info pertaining to the angled connector that splice the two lines together.

This is where I need your "know how". Is there any function to the connector other than just serving as an angle? I found a great deal on ebay for the SS line, up to 71". Is there any reason why I could not save some money and just run one long line from cylinder to caliper?

The "connector" is just a concession to manufacturing flexibility. By splitting the line, it allowed Yamaha to produce more configurations without having as many "specialized" parts as would have been required if each different bike had a single unbroken line.

Eliminate at will. (Although it does make routing easier as well.)

Ok, thanks guys, great stuff as usual! Now, who can tell me where to find the most affordable rebuild kits for cylinder & caliper?
