I'm going to remove my tank for painting('82 Maxim 750) it looks like just one bolt at the rear? and then must me under a lip or something,,is there anything I should be careful of? and is there anything that would be convenient to service or check while the tank is off?,,any thoughts will be appreciated,,Mark

I just did the same thing to mine, I would suggest replacing the petcock o ring and the fuel sending gasket, I got mine from power parts plus www.powerpartsplus.com/parts.aspx

Yes you are correct, it has one bolt.. belive to be 10 or 11mm and then there are to c shape hooks near the front of the tank, to remove just lift up the back alittle an then pull towards the back of the bike. Just be careful that you don't damage the coils after the tank is off, they sit on the bars under the tank.
