I’m installing aftermarket, smaller turn indicators on an ‘82 Seca with a fairing. I’m having a hard time figuring out a front extension option so I’m thinking about eliminating them. Problem is, the rear blinkers will only work when from blinkers are connected.

How can I disconnect the front system to just run rear blinkers?

Yes I know there are state laws, etc.

Change the flasher for an electronic one and disconnect the self cancelling unit

you could add load resistors , flasher needs two 27 watt bulbs to work

I just used one from my local auto parts store. Don't have the number handy at the moment, it was only 2 pin so have to make sure it's plugged into the correct 2 wires
