    Hi all,
The stock turn signals and seat brackets on my 1984 XJ750 Maxim seem to be in a horrible place for any sort of saddlebags. I've tried a couple pairs and keep getting to the same issues....

    1. The saddlebags are too far forward if they are in front of the turn signals in stock position. I moved the signals back a little, but it seems like it needs to be completely customized in order to work. (maybe it's time to upgrade to LED's anyways...)

    2. The seat brackets (where the seat clicks into the frame) are right in the middle of where saddlebags go across under the seat. I can't see anyway around this, other than cutting holes in the saddlebag middle part that goes under the seat.

So, how have you guys tackled this problem? Is it all customized, or are there other solutions that I am missing?

Yamaha had a kit for the factory bags that consisted of a pair of curved tubes that mount to the license plate frame, and move the signals rearward.

I run with a top case, so I've never dealt with making changes to account for the seat brackets.
The Yamaha set were hard bags that mount to the frame.

Ebay, or post an ad in the for sale/ wanted section here.

It was the 750 that had the bracket for the license plate mounting.
The 650 signals were relocated to the mounting rack for the luggge.

Pics of the factory kit here (along with pisc of the Vetter kit). The whole thread will be of use to you, so give it a quick read.

Fabricating mounts to just relocate the signals won't be particularly difficult.

I removed the turn signals altogether and used the signals on the end of my arms.

Unfortunately that does not work in all locations. Legalities and whatnot.
