    Hey guys -

Anyone know of some good V-max forums? No, I didn't go out and buy a V-max, but I do have a Venture, which is basically a V-max in sheep's clothing. Venturers.org is great, but those guys really aren't interested in modifying their bikes, I know the V-max guys are. I've been brewing some great ideas with this big Venture lately. It's amazing how close it is to a V-max when you get all the Goldwing-esque junk off of it... :D

    I googled for: v-max forum
This just a sample of what I found. I love the Vmax bikes and I’d be willing to make a Vmax/Venture website similar to this one but I’m not sure if there is a demand for it? Since I don’t own one it would be harder for me to participate and provide input. So, if I build it, will they come?

Thanks! I had found the V-max Outlaw and v-max.com sites, but not the vmaxforums.com site. As far as a following for these bikes, they started in '85 and are still built today mostly unchanged, so there's quite a few of them out there. Looks to me that there's also a Yahoo group in addition to the vmaxforums.com, and vmaxforums.com doesn't seem to get a HUGE amount of traffic, so not sure another site would be a great idea. But, I do like the format of xjbikes.com better than any of the v-max sites I've seen!

There is actually two yahoo newsgroups. One is tech, and the other is general. They both have plenty of traffic, and knowlegable people.

There are quite a few sources for parts online.
A good place for used parts is http://www.rmsportmax.com/
    And also http://www.ufocycles.com/

The first thing that the Venture guys seem to do is put a Max rear-end under there. A quick follow-up to that seems to be adding v-boost to them.
With a little effort, you could probably put a magnasport supercharger under the hood. Now that would be a blast! You would be the only kid on the block to have a supercharged touring machine.

Haha, yeah, I've also seen people put the V-max heads on them, I'm guessing the big difference would be the cams though. Maybe I can find a V-maxer that wants to swap the rear diff with me, I saw that some of the V-max guys are putting Venture diffs in when they go with a shorter tire.

As far as the touring part, well, all the bags, trunk, and fairings are gone off of this bike, so I'm still kinda up in the air as to what direction I want to go with the bike. Trying to decide if I want to go for the cruiser look, or the muscle bike look. My biggest hurdle as of now is that the gigantic 7.5 gal tank sticks out the sides, so if I try to go "naked" it'll look stupid. So, it's either swap to a V-max tank, or find some way to make this look good. Would be nice to keep the big tank though...

Thismay be the answer to your fuel tank problem. It's designed for a max, but holds more fuel. It should still be smaller than your current tank.

When these guys move up to a 17" wheel for radials, it makes the rpms jump considerably. I don't know if you've ever ridden one, but fith gear is pretty high strung anyway. A Venture swap comes soon after.
More than likely someone will swap with you. Or if you look at rmsportmax, under Venture products, they sell the swap for $300.
