I haven't but what I have heard is that they are pretty hard to hurt.

I always got goose-bumps, when one went cruising by me, on the long stretch through the Berkshires, when I was driving the kids home for a visit with their Gramma.

They seemed like poetry in motion.
I came close to a Venture Royale one-time; but couldn't really afford it, back then.

Or maybe I could ... and, I just didn't want to fly in First Class. I've always preferred the people you get to meet in Coach!

I haven't owned one, but have also heard good things about them. I know a couple of people that have them and love them.

Some of the early ones apparently had potential for issues with 2nd gear. Not sure what year Yamaha supposedly fixed it.

I test drove an 83 once. Smooth and quiet, especially quiet on the freeway compared to the XJs. If Mrs. would ride with me I'd have snapped it up. Bottom line though, for around town that fairing cuts the wind so much it's kinda dull. Since no Mrs. = No long trips I passed on it.

I'm envious. Watching for a deal like that myself.

I've wanted one for quite some time now, so the Mrs & I can ride together comfy-like.

It's a big highway cruiser with a specially tuned V-Max motor -- tuned for midrange rather than a huge powerband.

The only thing to watch out for - expecially on an 83-85 model - is the 2nd gear -- all too frequently a problem with the Ventures.

I hope the deal gets done. You'll have a heck of a bike to wrench on all winter.

There's lots to wrench on; too!

If the plastics are intact you can sell them for more than the $500.
